Default Tailgate Handle

How much trouble is it to get the tailgate handle and bezel off? I want to paint it and I need to reconnect one of the rods that is connected to the handle. Short tutorial maybe? Thanks in advance.

It's not hard at all, 5 minutes max for removal and install. You can connect the rods by hand, it's been a while since I've done it, I just followed the guide in my manual. BTW, be sure to wrap some sort of tape or heavy cloth around what ever tool you use to pry the bezel off to protect your paint.

on mine i just used my hand to squeze the bezel so it would pop out. ive done a couple like that with no problems. the handle is pretty much self explanitory when you get the bezel off. 3 bolts and then just unhook those 2 rods

Which side, top or bottom first??? I seem to always break one of the 2 tabs off...... Only takes a few minutes to get the whole handle out.

If I remember correctly, the top comes out first.

It was only the bezel, and the dealer does have them cheap.
