ANY TIPS ON PREPPING AND PAINTING THAT NASTY BLACK TEXTURED ABS PLASTIC??

There is a 3m solvent that you can use to help - but its a PITA regardless.

If its not textured use a scotchbrite pad to scuff it before painting - DO NOT USE SANDPAPER!

Use a good heavy filling primer that is ok on plastic....ect

Wash it first with dish detergent to remove the oils that're in plastics. If you want it smooth, sand the crap out of it, then clean it off and spray on an adhesion promoter before priming. After that, its a normal paint job. That's how I did mine and it turned out ok.

My body man sands, uses filler primer. sands again, filler primer again, sand smooth then paint. He did my 2001 HD & it's SMOOOOTH.

Otherwise I was thinking about goin to a stealership and get an already painted one or smooth paintable.
