I wouldnt drill it out. Remove the torsion key and then back the bolt out. Drilling a bolt is never fun.

Oh and as of today I have a few updated pics...

As my day ended, the lowering shackle, no block, and shorter u bolts, un cranked torsions brought me this...

Just kidding. Photoshop FTW lol

This is what I started at ride height wise...

And down to this...

Full shot...

FWIW you can also use keys from a 2500 to give you an inch or so drop at full pre-load. Decranking them will give you 2" easily before you are near taking the bolts out.

I'm with StrokerAce03. That key is gonna have to come out anyways, so why not swap in 2500 keys while you're at it. I've done the poor man's drop already, and when my 2 inch drop shackles come, I'm sure I'll need keys too. The truck rides better, is easier for The Girl to get into, and in theory, should get better mileage. The dude who bought my truck new is my neighbour, and he wouldn't let his son take his 08 to a wedding for fear it would get parked next to my 99 and show it up, being that this was two trucks ago for him.

I agree, do the 2500HD keys...if you get lucky you can find a local 2500HD owner who wants to lift/level his front end and you guys can swap keys.
