Default Slammed 4x4s (Convince Me)

I wanna drop my 01 Ext Cab Z71 pretty bad. I would be removing the factory block, uncranking my cranked torsion bars... and throwing a shackle in the rear.

My own big concerns are, A. Ride Quality...
B. I will be running stock rims and tires (31.3s) for awhile. Fitment problems?

Oh and are different shackles better quality and/or have a different drop?

Pictures would be awesome too!

I would get the spindles. I have them and they keep the ride like stock. You just have to run a min. 17" rim. Just doing the torsion bars can make the truck ride a little rough. I would get you some pics but my camera is broke. Just do it and be done with it.

Oh and how many full turns should I be doing so I come from a fully cranked to a fully lowered stance? I just did 10 turns per side (posting from the laptop in the garage)and its exactly an inch lower. I want it lower.

Post up ASAP! lol

Once you play with the torsion bar you should have it aligned. Get the spindles and you will have about 3" in the front.

I thought you couldnt do spindles with 4wd because of the CV?

And apparently according to my buddy you can remove the bolts completely and it wont hurt it. I was just gonna take it allll the way down with the torsions for now, and do spindles later if possible. I just want a different look and its a spur of the moment thing, Im taking wenesday off to pull my blocks and put the diff U bolts in.

That will be fun to get out. I would remove the torsion key to get it out. If you dont you will have alot of stored energy form the suspension.

Its got about an 1/8 inch gap before it is completely bottomed out. I just took it out for a drive, it rode much better than its ever has. Im debating drilling it out... Bad idea?
