Default shaved tailgate question

Ok im in the process of shaving my tailgate and at the dilema of taking off the plastic piece on the top or just painting it the same color as the truck or maybe just even leaving it black. Im looking for some imput of why i should take it off, leave it on, paint it, leave it alone etc. Let me me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

I say leave it. If u ever haul anything at all it can come in handy to saving your paint. It also depends on the color of the truck IMO. I think you can sneak it in on a darker vehicle,, like mine which i just posted pics of.

I swapped mine out for the Chevy SS tailcap, painted to match. While bgray's tailcapless truck looks awesome I feel the cap kind of breaks the monotone.
