Traction has nothing to do with your fuel economy on the highway. No matter what you do in your truck you wont break the tires loose at highway speeds. You need way more power than you can put down to do that. This is more of an aerodynamics issue. The added traction off the line comes from the weight over the rear tires, not weight added by downforce of the wind, but purely from the weight of the gate.

ok ill say this again. I launch in 4WD so traction really isnt an issue. I will switch to better tires in the near future as well just for the hell of it.
My truck puts down alot of power you'd be surprized if I tell you that I break the tires loose in 3rd gear (4.10 rear end) when in 2WD, 750bhp here and going to at least 850 soon.
What im looking for is to reduce high-speed drag caused by having the tailgate, for maximum high-speed acceleration.
