Default Rollpan question/opinion

Well here is my truck and i'd like to put a roll pan back there.

question:
what is a good brand of METAL roll pans?
am i going to lose my hitch?
and do i have to remove my spare tire?

opinion:
has anyone been in a wreck with a roll pan? how much damage did it cause?
is it worth it?

Sir Michaels is the best imo. u will need an aftermarket hitch (hidden) to work with the rollpan. The spare tire, u can get a relocation kit (sir michaels) has this too. I've got a sir michales waiting to get painted. Just make sure you have both sides of the rollpan painted. I didn't and had rust pitting through, so it basically ruined it. My new will be painted, and i'm going to use truck bedliner on the inside.

What was said above. I have a Sir Mikes and like it a lot. It is a quality pan and fits well.

I have a Sir Michaels and like it fine. It is the bolt on type and I like that or the welded. I did NOT like the spare tire relocater as the tire was visible when standing behind the truck... it hung down below the rollpan. I put the spare in the bed under the tonneau cover. You can get a hidden hitch to fit behind the license plate but when you order the roll pan you have to be sure to order one with the fold down license plate bracket.

I had a guy run into the back of my truck 6 days after we got done installing the roll pan and it caused a LOT of damage to the rear fender that would not have been caused had I had a bumper. This is not to mention the damage to the horizontally placed Cadillac taillights I had in the roll pan and the tail light fillers in the fender It cost his insurance company big bucks to fix everything. You can see mine at my photo site ... link in my signature. I'd do it again!

I'll put in my recommendation for the Sir Michaels roll pan. I used to have one on my truck and it was of really good quality. I'm pretty sure they offer provisions for a hidden hitch as well.

I've been in an accident. The damage was only to my tailgate, so the cost to fix was estimated at about $600. A bumper would have avoided that. It was a hit-and-run and I had a $500 deductible. I don't think it is worth it.

I love the way they look though. Mine was a Sir Michaels as well. I also forgot to paint the inside and had rust issues. I'm looking for a bumper that has a lower profile. I don't want to give up the protection the bumper provides, but I also don't want it sticking out so far. Does the SS bumper have different dimensions?

Have to agree with Sir Michaels as being the best. I backed into a rock at the lake. The roll pan save the quarters from being smashed. I like th moulded look the best, smooth and no body lines.

Here are a few pics;
