Hey fellas and ladies, I plan on getting a roll pan for my 2002 Reg cab/short bed/silverado but I have a few questions that I would love to get answered by you guys who have done it. First off, which one should I get. I have noticed that the Sir Michaels Steel one is probably the most popular but they are a little pricey. Is going Steel a must? Also can I install it myself? I know that I would have to get it painted at a body shop but could I actually put it on with the right tools??? Also how much did it cost you guys to have it painted? Installed? Thanks, I know that's a lot of questions, Feel free to answer as many as you can. Post pics too if you want!

 

Sir Michaels steel pan is the one to go with, and its not hard to install if you just bolt it in, but talk to the guy at your body shop about welding the pan in so the back end is smooth. IMO, if your gonna get a roll pan, weld it in or it defeats the purpose. Also make sure he paints the backside of the pan.

 

if you dont mind fabbing up a couple things yourself you can go with the street scene urithane pan. i chopped about 4" off of mine though, and had to fab up some brackets to keep it from wobbling. im happy with the final product but it did take about 4 hours to get it the way i want.

sir michaels is not a paint and bolt in kit. when you get it its a rough product. it needs to be grinded, filled and smoothed before install because its just tach welded together.

edit: im not sure if street scene makes a pan for the fleetside???

 

i got a sir michaels for mine and i liked it alot. i welded mine in though. if you want to go with something that just bolts on then you can go with this one but prefit it before you get it painted that way just incase you have to do some work on it. also the sir michaels pan you can just paint and put on but around the license plate that box is just tacked in but it dont look that bad if you just paint over it. if you dont like it somebody could weld it up and grind it smooth for you when they are doing the paint. other than that it is the best rollpan in my book

i got a friend who said he got his for like 200 for the roll pan i think it was maybe like 50 or something for the paint(he knew the guy that owned the shop) and he installed it himself with just common hand tools but he didn't weld his on for some reason so if you wanna go that way it will be a little more
