Default Removing Leaf spring will accomplish what????

I talked with a guy today who drops trucks and he was telling me how labor intensive it is to do the rear hangers. He brought up removing one of the leaf springs and adjusting my shackles to achieve a 3-4 inch drop in back. He said it would be easier and less expensive.

Anybody have any experience with this, any thoughts?

I have heard of people removing leaf springs before. It will just make it sag more if you tow.

It cost you no money and it will lower your truck but its the "redneck" way to do it. Your towing abilities would be almost all gone and your the rear will like to hop so to speak bad when going over bridges. I don't recommend it. I recommend a hanger/shackle combo for $$$ but you can get a leaf spring package instead and you will still retain all towing ability.

Removing the leafs for the spring is more labor intensive, doing the shackles will only take about 30 mins. Hangers about 2 hours.

Yea, removing a leaf with make it bouncy and cause axle wrap when you launch, not the best way to achieve more drop IMO.

a little, if I removed the overload spring, I would only do that with a set of caltracs to control the wheel hop.
