Default Reg Cab System

I need some help on setting up a stereo sytem in my Reg Cab Silverado. I want to go with a simple quality system, thats sounds clear. I was thinking of two 10" subs and an amp. I also want to install all new speakers, do I have to replace the stock reciever? I have some idea of what to purchase, but would like your opinions on a good quality system. Oh yeah this will be a low budget operation-or close to it. Thanks.

I went with 3 way components in doors and 3 way components in rear panels ( stock locations for both and seperate tweeters) and then I have 2 10" subs behind seats. I got all MB Quart stuff which is fairly pricey but you can do same thing but with diff. brand parts for prolly around $1k.

Try and go with component sets if you can will sound best in sc truck. replacing your head unit would be an awesome idea also will sound a hell of alot better with aftermarket head unit.

Trash the stock deck for sure.

6.5" Components in the front door. (My choice Diamond Audio D661)

Eclipse Deck in the dash (CD8454 or CD8445).... The reason i use this deck is not only does it have a 24bit D/A and 8volt preout it has a time alignment feature which makes the vocals of most songs sound like it is coming out of the center of your dash. Our trucks have horrible imaging and this deck really make a decent image easy to attain. Plus the sound quality is awesome!

As for subs it all comes down to how much seat space you are willing to give up. Probox makes a box that holds 2 10s or 2 12s for our trucks. I just purchaed one so i'll let you know how it fits. I sell a ton of their boxes and the quality is great but you usually can't fit deep subs in em.

If you want more midrange volume later on down the raod then the Q-Logic kick panels are a good way to go and will allow you to house a set of 5.25" components.

For 2 low wattage 10"s you can get a nice 5channel amp to run the whole thing. The Precision Power DCX-800.5 amp would work great. You can run the door speakers and rear speakers and subs all off it. The thing really has good sound quality despite it's ugly looks. It actually sound better than the JL Audio Slash amps. They retail for about $750 or so.

For subs it all depends on what you listen to. I really like the Diamond Audio DS3 subs for budget material. Otherwise JL Audio 10w3s sound good to and even though tye are kinda deep, they are easy to fit into tight boxes because they don't vent at the rear of the sub like most do which means you can stick them flat against the back of the box NP.

Where to buy?? Not on the internet! LOL

Find a local dealer for those items. that's where you will get the best warranty. The items I listed have zero factory warranty when bought off the net period. I don't care what the website that is selling them says.

That's part of the fun

Just make sure and ask us before you buy something you're not sure about. Sale people can make even crap sound like it's golden. I know, I'm a sales guy but unfortuantely for me I'm honest. Good thing I don't work on commision. LOL
