Default refinishing SS wheels

Hey guys. I recently picked up a set of painted SS wheels for cheap because the previous owner of the truck they came off of decided to spray paint them black (poorly). Well it took six hours and a half gallon of aircraft stripper but the rims are finally down to bare aluminum. I was surprised to find out that the face of the rims were actually left rough cast, not machined finish. I was hoping to polish the rims, but now it looks like I will have to resurface them first. Anybody have any suggestions on the best way of doing this? I'll try and get some pics up later so you can see what they look like. thanks

If polishing them proves to be too difficult they will be getting powdered. I'd like more input on polishing first though.
