Default Rear roll pans?

Trying to do some weight reduction on my truck and thinking about losing the rear bumper to a roll pan. I had a roll pan on my dodge ram that was a sir mikes steel bolt in model. This is the only experience I have with roll pans.

Whats everybody's opinion on them and do you prefer the steel/urethane, bolt-on/weld in/mold in? I might have a lead on a sir mikes steel bolt in for a good price so I just might go that way. But looking for advice.

Sir Mikes are good products. I have a bolt in, but i would like to have it welded in. I never have like the urethane ones, so id stick with steel and either bolt it on or weld it in.

How much weight do you think it would lose going from stock to a Sir Mike's? Also what about the hitch how would that look with a roll pan?

Wieght savings around 35 lbs. As far as a hitch, factory hitch wont work. You will need to buy a hidden hitch from someone like stylinconcepts or summit.

defintely weld it......surprisingly I think the factory hitch weighs more than the bumper. I was shocked how light the factory bumper was.

definetely go with the SM pan, and weld it in for a real clean look. I tried a urethane pan and it warped in a few thousand miles, and shook on the highway. Although it did only weight 8-10lbs

I have a sir mikes...have found that customclassics has a VERY similar pan for much less money and it is a steel stamped pan too. Fitment from friends that have used both are nearly the same. I think the custom classic's pan is around 115 to 120 plus shipping and they are located in Texas so the shipping may be cheaper.
