Default Quick Console question

I've decided to put a console in my reg cab. I've fount two consoles on ebay. One includes glove box door and trim piece that is under the steering wheel while the other one is console and glove box door. Is the trim piece under steering wheel needed to install?

Im not sure, but with my last two trucks I took that piece off and I think it is needed. Here is a pic of my 01 rc. I know I'm not a lot of help, but that's all I got.

I went and looked at mine on my truck, I think I'm fine without it. I thought the piece under steering wheel to glove box was all one piece, it's not they're two diff pieces. Looks like its a go ahead then!

If your truck was a 99-02 like mine then you do have to have it cause its longer than the 03-07 classic piece.
