I did mine a few years ago so it's a bit fuzzy. First I took it into a shop because I didn't want to deal with the front end. They got the rears in okay but gave up on the fronts. The rears are pretty straight forward, you might want to cut the end of one of the drivers side bolts off so you can get it in without having to move the fuel tank.

From everything I read the fronts should not be too hard. The shop I took it to gave up because they couldn't get the front ball joint out. I went to Discount and rented a spring compressor and tried. I couldn't get the lowers off either so I took off the top ones and went that route. To do the fronts took about 5 hours. Rent a good internal spring compressor, you don't want it slipping on you.

To get the top one off I loosened the nut so it just covered the end of the threads, then gave it a whack with a brass hammer. It came off fairly easy, I'm not sure why everyone who writes an article about taking the lower off never has a problem .... Taking the upper off though you also need to remove the brake caliper and suspend it with a rope or something similar while you change the springs. Personally, I think it will take a small nuclear explosion to get the bottom one off.
