I just put on my new rims tonight and I drove around with them on after and my truck started making this clicking noise like there was a peice of tire loose and it was slapping the ground...the faster I went, the faster the sound was. I went back and swapped the two front wheels and it still made the noise. So I'm not sure if its the wheel anymore (but it still could be?) I'm kinda scared to drive it, like the wheel is going to fall off or something. But the wheels are on really tight. Plus I called the guy who sold me the wheels and he said he mounted and balanced them perfectly. Anybody know what wrong or have any ideas...please help!

What I would do is check everything around there and make sure nothing is loose if it is that big of a concern put the old tires back on and see if it still makes the noise, if it does not then you know where the problem is coming from... the tires. It might be hitting themud guards.

ok I figured out what was wrong. As simple as this sounds, my lugs were not long enough to reach the surface of the wheel, so it was wobbling as I drove
So my question is, how long of lug nuts do you guys use to bolt on your wheels?

Well I dont have an exact lenght on mine. But what I would be worried about is more of the diameter of the lug nuts. There needs to be a correct diameter of the lug nut to that of the hole. I highly doubt that lug length will play a factor in making it wobble. I know that when you drag you need to have a good amount of length on the lug nuts to race... but not sure why that is for. I am sure someone else knows .

For reference, Moregrip and I had a lug nut sizing discussion awhile back. You can check out it here.

number one...be sure that the wheel mounting pad is flush against your wheel hub. Also be sure that the wheels you just bought dont still have the hubcentric rings from the old truck still inside them. If thats the case, it may not be seating properly. Dont re-use stock lugs, youll need a 14x1.5 acorn style lug. If they have centercaps, just triple check that they are tight as well
