I painted my '69 exhaust with VHT Flameproof spray paint. I know people that use this stuff on their headers, so for exhaust pipes it lasts very well. There is a process of curing it, if you follow that it is very durable.

most "cermaic coatings" are really just high temp paint (unless they do a "molten application process" it is paint in fact, according to Don Swain who invented the process ).

Try something from PJ1 called Fast Black high temp paint.
I used it on motorcle headers back in the day. It's still available and works pretty damm good. Since many bike headers are exposed and have to look good they make this paint to hold up pretty well. Not sure how long it will last on a truck being driven all year but I think it's better than the VHT stuff.
I think both VHT and PJ1 are made by the same company but are diffreent in some way.
Just do a search on PJ1 Fast BLack.

A friend of mine used barbecue paint on the exhaust of his 03 2500, it came out real nice and has held up for about 6 months so far
