Paint for Vinyl Door Panels
#1
Im currently smoothing and painting all the plastic in my truck. Problem is you cant paint on the vinyl part of the door panels. I want to smooth it out and paint it the smae colors as my other stuff. Does anyone know how i can make the paint stick to the vinyl. I know they have vinyl paint, but they only have standard colors. Will i have to bondo over the entire panel then sand and paint. I need some info. Thanks.

I'm wanting to do this to my Sierra for the dash trim as well as some pieces under the hood. What exactly are you doing to make the plastic smooth? Are you sanding or just using bondo or fiberglass to smooth everything?

the best way to do this is to prep the plastic with some 330 remover. use 320grit paper and sand as much texture as you want out of it. the more teture you have the stronger the paint will hold, however, the smoother it is the better it looks. use a much primer as you can.
