while on the subject of dashes out of trucks, does anyone know how the passenger "handle" is held to the dash? the dash I bought has that handle removed, and I assume that i'll need to remove mine to get my dash out.

I did mine while it was still in the truck just make sure you tape off your windshield.

The dash cover is easy to remove.

I pulled the cover, I used a real fine grit sand paper to help blend the edge of the peeling paint. Then I used a fine scotch brite pad and some dish soap with warm water to clean the surface and prep it for spraying.

You have to use real light coats or it will lift the edge of the original paint. You really have to be patient. I spotted the bad areas first to cover them, then gave the whole thing a few light even coats.

FYI you can stick a long flat blade screwdriver to release the tabs at the front of the windshield that hold the clips on the dash.

If the tabs break off, you can purchase a Plastic weld epoxy and re attach them. Double sided tape won't hold up in the long term.

I have used that as well with similar results.
The pictures you posted what GM color code is that and what paint?

My truck looks to be that color, but on the option codes it has the 92i - which I thought you were saying was SEM 17163 to match not the 17223

What does GM call these things? Im really also trying to find out a paint that matches the dark gray almost black inserts that my light gray interior truck has because Im changing the headliner to something like that and want to paint the grab handles, dvd enclosure etc to match

Quick Reply: paint/dye that matches 99-07 classic charcoal gray interior
