does anybody know if you can paint the stock "bumper cap" on the 99-02 gmc sierra 1500's

if its not painted already, and is the plastic rough grey...


can i just get a body shop to use fine grit sandpaper to sand it down and in the end will it have the same gloss/finish of the stock one?

You can/could paint anything, but it would be cheaper to just buy the smooth bumper cap that comes on the LT trucks. It's only like $65 through GMpartsdirect.com and would likely cost more for the labor to smooth the stock one. You'll get a better end result as well.

i looked it up and it said it would be about $120. thats like double the $65...

 

thats the smooth paint to match one. comes on the SLE and SLT trucks

hmm my reg cab was an SLE and it came with a painted cap. must have been some sort of option i guess. good luck with it.

 

lol nooo.... i sold the denali front end, when i bought the truck he had already sold the stock bumper. so when i got this one, it came with this cap on it...
