i have alot of accessories like aftermarket foglights, dash overlay kit, stereo w/ cap and amp and 4 awg wire. should i get the yellow? or will red be ok too?
In that case, you need the Yellow Top.

Red Top = maximum cranking amps.
Yellow Top = < cranking amps than red top but will last longer

What is the model number you got? I want one of these but want to get the right one. Also, did you need a bracket to make it fit properly where the stock battery sits? Some people say a bracket of some sort is needed to make it fit properly (not sure).

No, man, it bolts right in in the stock location. Just make sure you get the one made for the GM vehicles. A lot of people don't relize that Optima Batteries has over 100 different size batteries for optimum fit in your vehicle, even for most motorcycles.

Yeah, Optima batteries, however expensive, are the shiz-nit to say the least. HAd a redtop in an old Exploder off roader that took a pounding and was anexceleltn battery. Recently, I started having chargin problems with my 03: getting hard to start and it wasn't even cold yet, lights dim (while driving) on a hard bass note, amps running low while driving and other B/s. I thought I just needed a cap, so I almost bought one and then one morning ,it was f'in cold and my truck wouldn't start, no lights left on or **** our trucks have that run down protection anyway, so I knew that wasn't the case. DId my research on the web and went to Advance and bought the yellow top dep cycle 650ca. IT"S THE ****!!! Now, even at zero temps, it starts like a breeze, no lights dimming, you can run your stereo for days and no problems! Used to, my stereo would turn off when I started my truck if I were playing it on "ACC" setting, now it never even blinks when I start the truck! Talk about power, I've always been a firm beleiver in Optimas..once you get over the sticker shock. I paid like $179 for mine, 1 yr. free replacement and 3 years pro-rated is their warranty from Advance. If you NEED a battery, make good use of your money and don't buy junk that'll let you down, spend a little xtra and get something reliable, my 2 cents. Sorry for the rant, but I've bought cheaper batteries that have left me stranded miles into the backwoods, never again my friends!!

Oh, yeah, I had a red top in my old mustang that lasted 7 years, and went with the mustang in a trade in. Never a problem. I even left my lights on all nite once, killing the battery. Just turned off the lights, and 1 hour later the car started right up. It just recharged itself. I thought that it would really hurt the battery, but it lasted 3 more years with no problem.

I have no freakin idea how long these can last!

I love my yellow top. I can park with all of my interior lighting and underbody lights on with my system playing for an hour and it will start right up. It even started right up after sitting in the garage for a little over 2 weeks while I was in Cali. Also, can't get a better looking battery under my hood with all of my yellow accents!

I would buy an optima battery if they made one with side mount only. Do they make one like that? If so what is the part number? I looked on the site but couldn't find such a battery. By the way I get a SMOKIN deal on them since the company I work for (JCI) makes them.

I always thought the Blue Top would be best for stereo systems because of the deep cycle that the battery has. Well my truck is blue, and I compete stereo wise so why not get a blue top...I know there bad ***, just don't have the experience with them, sorry.

with the Blue Tops i think they come in both Cranking and Deep Cylce. they are used as Marine batteries. i was thinking of getting some for my bassboat. 1 cranking battery for starting the motor, and 2 deep cycles for my trolling motor. the yellow top is a deep cycle as well. not sure if the Blue Top has sidemounts since it is a Marine battery
