Off Road rear bumper question?
#1
Does anyone have an off road aftermarket rear bumper installed. The ones like Ranchhand, buckstop or road armor? If so how does it mount to the rear of the truck, using original bumper mounts? Does anyone have pics of the mounts to the frame? How thick are the mounting plates?
I am building my own tube bumper, and want something I can put clevis mounts on for recovery. I figured those bumpers are stout, and would help me figure out exactly how to bolt it to the frame.
Any help would be great.

Ranch hand and all that are probably bolt on. As are most other bought bumpers.
The brackets you make are up to you. I would have atleast 1/4 plate steel gusseted and doubled bead welded to make sure if you are yankin on it.
Checkout Pirate4x4.com for ideas. Those guys are very serious about their wheelin.

Thanks for the replies and photo. Looks like they are using the three orginal bolts for the mount. Pirate is a good site, got a lot of good info from there.
I know some of the bumpers have recovery points attached, so I figured they might be a good starting point.
I am planning on 1/4" using the orginal 4 locations, and another piece bent using the attachment points for the hitch.
