Default New improved smaller spring clamp.

Just got done drawing all this up and doing tool paths.
The old compared to the new. Should give some increased clearance for lowered trucks.

$85.00 bucks a pair shipped.
What Duwem says about the finite element analysis would be true if I had not used my truck as the real world test guinea pig. I have done many drag race launch starts since installing them last fall and have had zero issues with them coming loose or breaking under the strain.
0-120+mph acceleration, hard braking too!
The set on my truck is substantially wimpier (thinner walls)than the current ones I make.
I don't have the software needed to do that type of testing.

Duwem, I'd send you the file but I only draw this stuff up 2-D and set tool paths to it and use that as the show and tell for here. This is a representaion of what the part would look like with all the overall sizes and radi' being cut by the tool size of your choosing. I used to have solid works but that went away after my old laptop was ripped off from work.

Remember, FEA is only as good as your inputs. Does anyone really know the true loads that these clamps are seeing? I'm sure some assumptions could be made on the preload of the spring and the axle loading during launch, but I think they would have an error % of 30-50%.

Also, setting your constraints in the FEA model can make or break you. Bottom line, it's simpe to make pretty pictures, hard to make ones that mean something.

I wouldn't worry about these parts, I'm sure there is more than enough material to deal with the stress.

BTW, Nice work

im a guenie pig for lowered trucks. i have 5" after 2" hangers and 3" of shackle. no problem from them yet. if the ones from auto zone hold up, these are 100x stronger.

Thanks for clarifing the FEA stuff for the non-engineers here.
Not worried here, if they did break I would refund your money after you shipped back the busted ones.
Mine just saw a couple more drag launches at lunch.

No problem...

TG02Z71, what kind of discounts can you get on HAAS machines or extra equipment? My friend has a HAAS TM-1 with HRT-160 and SL-10T. He is always looking for more stuff.

I really don't know what my company would discount me. I'll have to ask. I work for an HFO so it would not be out of the question I guess.
