Acetone might melt the plastic, I would just pick up a bottle of the wax and grease remover.

thanks for that link Blue that's essentially exactly what i was looking for...now past that...anybody know any good retailers to purchase the non-hardware store items (i.e, adhesion promoter & that slick sand ****)

Autozones carry duplicolor adhesion promoter, and a few other things you will need but if you can find an auto paint supply i would go there first
