Default Need help figuring out tire size

Ok I have a '94 Suburban. I bought some '78 C10 wheels to mount on her, they measure 16.5"x8". I am going to get Goodrich Radial T/As. My issue is figuring out the front and back sizes I need. I want them to have a nice beefy looking sidewall profile, rears wider than the fronts and the fronts just a little wider than stock without worrying about any rubbing issue and I want them to be the same hight. I don't want her raked. Now every time I try to learn tire sizing I always get completely lost. So if someone can just tell me what sizes I need based on those qualifications that would be awesome. Firestone is having a sale next Sunday so I am really interested in getting this sizing issue figured out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I would describe the look I am going for as muscle car status, I don't want anything sticking out to far from the body...ugh this is to hard to describe isn't it.

16.5" on 5 lugs? You sure? Will be impossible to find nice tires if they are actually 16.5's.

You can't even buy radial T/A's, they only come in 15's (and 3 limited sizes 17-18").

If metric tire sizes give you a headache, just use a calc.

Okay so maybe they are 15s they are the same size as the wheels on my truck right now the lip diameter reads at 16.5" but tire size still says r15.

Wheel diameter is measured where the bead seats, not the edges.

Run some sizes through the calc, or just cruise bfg's specs if you want similar diameter but narrow up front with a nice fat ***.

I ran 235/70/15's on 15x7 up front and 295/50/15 on 15x10 in the back on my 86.

Quyonmob: thanks for the advice, will check out the calculater when I get on a real computer, I also have a friend that has been through this kind of stuff with special tire sizing. And yes I love the fat ***'.

03sierraslt: good one, yeah real science.
