Default Most of you have done this...

First off what's up everybody?

My names Trey, i'm 24 and i live in the woodlands area. (Houston, Tx.)

I know it's pretty easy to do, but where do you guys take your trucks or what do you use to remove all the stock lettering from the tailgate? I want it to look smooth and seamless.

I drive an 03 Carmine Red Silverado Stepside....pics to come.

Any Advice would be awesome!

I think most people use a hair dryer to heat up the glue, then peel them off.

That's one way. I used fishing line and used it as a saw to take the lettering off. Gets a little more of the adhesive that way. Then use the "booger rolling" method to get the rest of it off. Be prepared for a blister or two.

I used the GF's teflon coated spatula, worked great......I didn't tell her about it though.

i just made my wife do it no seriously she did help though and she took the blisters like a champ i was really suprised. one thing id suggest to you is to use bug and tar remover it worked pretty good when i stripped the stickers off my gmc as opposed to just rubbin them off like we did on my chevy

heat gun worked for me, softens it up and you can peel it right off, fallowed by googone and then a light wax.

ripped it off, hit it with a pressure washer at 45* angle to get the big stuff and 87 octane gasoline got rid of the rest of the gue. light coat of wax afterwards.

If its just the tape lettering that spans across the tailgate in big letters, it should just peel off pretty easily by hand, just take your time. Now if its the emblems, I have used the fishing line method and heat gun. Get some goo gone or some sort of bug and tar remover cause your going to have some leftover adhesive on there regardless. Its best to do on a warm or hot day too. But be prepared for some blisters. Just takes a little elbow grease.
