Default Might buy HIDs.. Got Q's

My buddy is trying to get a group buy for our club and the price is really cheap and I don't have a company name yet. Are there fake HID setups out there that have ballasts and ignitors and such but are not as good as a real HID kit like the Sylvania or something?

I'm just trying to figure out why they are only $250 or so. I mean even with a group buy that's really cheap isn't it?

Also, since you're in here. I can get the Denali lights for the GMC and use HIDs in them right?

That price seems really low to me. As far as the Denali lights go I'm pretty sure that'd work. I'd be interested to know for sure though, as this is the route I plan on taking when I do mine.

I looked up some places online and I am seeing kits for as low as $349 so I'm jguessing since we would have to buy 10-15kits it is possible.. It's a friend of mine that is putting the GP together and he already has a set on his Camaro and has for at least 4mo and hasn't had any issue. I just have not got to see it in person so I couldn't judge.

If I go through with it I'll post up so you know if it worked or not if no one chimes in before then.

The kit I got was $349 about 2 years ago. It had a 50 dollar rebate too. What kind of ballasts do the lights come with? Hella and Phillips make the best ballasts. If the setup has external ignitors, you do not want it.

There are only a couple of true, good quality H.I.D. kits. Hella, Osram, Sylvania and Phillips I think are them, however I think Osram/Sylvania are the same company, I don't remember which is conglomerated with which. Anyway, those are the only companies I would buy from if I were to go with H.I.D. ballasts and bulbs. Also, the headlamp housing is just as important as the H.I.D. kit. Actually, choose a housing before you choose what bulbs to go with because the housing will tell you what bulbs to get. I don't remember for sure, but I think with projector housings you want D2S bulbs and for reflector housings you want D2R bulbs.
I researched this topic for days on end and came to the conclusion that I was going to buy the Denali headlamps and a Phillps H.I.D. kit with D2S bulbs rated at anywhere from 4100-5600k.
Hope that helps.

Those really are the kind you dont want. Hella and Phillips house everything in thier ballasts. Bulbs might have been a lower quality japanese brand. Im not sure.
