Don't need any lock nuts. They will not spin, unless I unbolt them and spin them myself. Here's a set of the real Cal Tracs. There's none on these either. The only difference between mine and the real deal, is mine is custom made and painted. Plus, I can't find anything to use for the bushing thru the leaf spring at the front. They do have them..

The real Caltracs on the front have Right Hand Threads and the Rear of the bars are Left hand Threaded.. So in this case you need "Jam" nuts to keep them from moving..
I now see in yours, you used all Right Hand Threads? So yea you have to unbolt yours to Adjust.. The Caltracs are setup to be easier adjusted.
I plan on making a set cause my brother has a box full of the end links..
Ive found those Aluminum Bushings before... gimme a lil while and ill let you know where i found them at..

You are correct. The real Cal Tracs do have the jamb nuts and the bars are threaded, and that would be the lock nut. My jamb nuts are welded to the bars, and I couldn't do the threaded bars, that's why I welded the jamb nuts. I guess I could have spent enough time on them and get inserts for the bars, just lazy I guess. Good enough for me though. As long as they work, that's all that matters to me anyway. The only time that I would really have to adjust them would be going to the track to get a stiffer ride. Thanks for the link on the bushings, a little pricey though. Maybe cause they are aluminum. I know of someone who could make some for me on a lath. According to another member, it's a real bitch getting the old ones out!! Prolly the toughest part of the job.

When I build mine I will be using 1 1/2 .120 Wall DOM tubing and Hiem&Bung Combinations (to great the threaded tube).

place i found online with hiems and bungs. I generally buy them from my local supplier (i build custom suspensions and am obsessed with doing it right.)

Those look very nice. But I didn't want to spend to much on them. I believe that the Cal Tracs are over priced already, that's why I made my own. The heim and bung kits look like top quality parts though. One of these days when my back gets better, I'll install mine. I don't plan on going to the track until late Oct. or Nov. anyway, but I know some of you want to see the results. So I'll try and install them when I can.

I think on those aluminum bushings, you'll have to press the old ones out and press the aluminum ones in. You could try machine shops or bearing suppliers for either bronze or steel bushing material for your setup. You can order specific sizes or cut them to fit.
