Default lowering a Z71, stupid or clever?

i'm thinking about taking off my flares and Z71 sticker and dropping/leveling it to make it look like a 2WD since i dont use it for off road and probably never will. would i get hate mail and objects thrown at me, or would it be cool?

Use the truck what you want to use it for. If you will never go off road then do it. I think that is a good idea and it will look good. If the dealer will give me what I owe for my 04 then I will get an 05 with the employee discounts there offering till July 5th , but this time with 4wd and not black. I love black but its too much of a pain in the ***. And 4wd for future traction issues. And all other options the same... Loaded
If I had a 4wd I would want it lowerd like a 2wd and no z71 or 4wd badges either

Nothing wrong with lowering it if that's what you want to do...Stickers, shocks, and skidplates is all that the Z71 package really is anyway (I changed my shocks and removed my decals...guess I have the X72 package now).
I've tossed around the idea of lowering mine (the one mod I suggest that my wife is all for...she hates climbing into my truck)...but then I toss around the idea of lifting it too.
If you do decide to go for it, post up some pics!

As long as you're not slamming it I think it's fine. Lowering it about 2" or so would make for better handling. At one point I thought about doing it to my truck but then I relaized I just love the look of a stock Z71

Mines a Z71, and I have about a 3/5 drop on it. I used shackles and hangers and took out the lift blocks in the rear. In front I used Belltech torsion bar keys and Mcgaughy drop spindles
