4 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear on them.

Honestly I'm not good at wet sanding, so I think I'll just pass on that.

Does any one know how to remove the mirror caps?

Do you still need chrome covers? If I can get them off nicely I could give them to you if you like.

IIRC, there's 3 tabs that secure the mirror caps. Get behind there w/. somethin thin & flat (I've heard John's lil ****** would work. Oops! Not that small. So I hear.)
A thin butter knife, but don't bogger the plastic surround. And don't break those lil tabs either.
