Default interior color change

who has done an complete interior color change?

what color did you change from/to?
what did you use to change the color, paint(what kind), dye, etc.?

id like to change my tan interior to totally black w/ a few colormatched(green) pieces eventually

i know i will get new carpet, headliner, and seat covers(katzkin) and tahoe floor console but what about all the other misc. interior pieces

i want my dash front cover, the one that goes around the cd player, a/c controls, gauges, etc. and my overhead short console to be painted green to match the exterior. does anyone know where i can find these pieces already smoothed, and ready to paint?

look at vicred's interior to see what i want colormatched

thanks in advance

SEM products work good, you can Google them. Do you have a link to pictures of VicRed's interior?

I redid mine from tan to black last summer. Dyed some of the pieces with flat black vinyl dye and painted some of it with ultra flat black paint. I used adhesion promoter on all the pieces and it is a must. I got OEM style black leather seat covers from C/K resto and black carpet from stock interiors. I'll try to get some pics up later. Be prepared though, it is a pain in the ***.

do you have any pics of the process?

did you use dye on the softer pieces only, like the grab handle on pass. side and the armrests on doors or dye some of the hard plastic like the dash, etc.?

i planned on using the paint on the hard plastic and only dying the softer plastics/vinyls

where did you get the vinyl dye and paint, i got some krylon fusion paint but dont think thats what i need

anyone know what kind of cleaner i need to get all the oil, etc. of?

I just sanded all of the texture down smooth and painted/cleared it with automotive paint. Takes a while though.

I didn't use vinyl dye on the soft parts; those (armrests and Oh **** handle) are wrapped in leopard skin. I just picked up some vinyl dye at the parts store and used it on all the other pieces. Paint works better on the high traffic areas such as the kick panels and door sills. Use Dawn dish detergent to get the oils out of the plastic. I used the adhesions promoter just to be safe and to help the paint stick better.
