looking to install my HIDs this weekend. I have a 05 silverado and was wondering if I have to pull the fuse for the daylight running lights? I've read around various forums and have came across everything from pulling the fuse, to adding a resistor, etc. Anyone know what I'm going to have to do? Any advice will help. I'm going to be installing hi's/lo's/and fogs.

 

ive never heard anything about pulling fuses and such things....just install em and see how it does! biggest thing you have to worry about is *NOT* touching the HID bulb!!

 

I pulled my fuse for running lights on my 08 chevy, but on mine the running lights are the same as the headlights. I dont know how yours is?? I pulled the fuse only because i do alot of driving during the day and I dont want to put the hours on the HIDS. They are not cheap! If i do highway driving during the daylight i just turn on my headlights for saftey.

Resitors, I had a lesser quality set of HIDS that flickered and required resistors to store some extra power and that would stop the flickering. I have since bought better quality system and there is no flickering and no need for resistors. HID price was $85 vs $125 for good ones.

You get what you pay for when it comes to HIDS!~

Did my lows, highs, and fogs just plug and play. Took more time to find a mounting location for the 6 balasts than anything else during the install. only problem i have heard of someone having was that after there install there hid lights would not come on due to there head lights where revers polarity so they just had to unpin the wires on the connetors, switch them around plug everything back in and it worked for them.

 

I have hid's on my trucks w/out pulling the fuses. You shouldnt run into any problems with these trucks b/c the power wire and ground is pretty thick. Cars usually have the issues where they have to run relays and resistors to stop the flickering or even power them up. My buddy has a occasional problem with his just turning on 1 of the lights. He resolves it by turning them off then on again. He doesnt have to worry about that ne more he just totaled it last night.... Its the black one in my sig.

 

x2 on the flickering. i am replacing the ballasts on my to the ddm tuning ones. I put those on wifes benz and they look better than stock hids.
