how wide of a wheel can u go in the back on the 99+ silverados?

I am currently running 17x8 with 5 inch backspacing w/ BFG 275/60/17 tires.

It fits well, but I would like to go wider.

I heard of a few 285ers out there, but has anyone have a 305 size tire on their truck without sticking out the sides?

If so, what rim size, backspacing, etc. TIA

 

I put some 285/50/20's on mine. No rubs anywhere. Im not sure of the max width that can be run though.

 

285/60/18's on mine with no problems either

 

hyperlite, snub, how are those 4.10s treatin ya?

Can you smoke the hell outta em? Im thinking about getting a eaton posi with 4.10's as well.

 

deckhand, i have the same size wheels and tires you do on my truck but i'm gonna go with some 295s in the back probably nittos and 275s in the front next time i get new tires.

 

will the 295s stay within the fender well?

well, red2k has 295s on his 16" wheels and they looked pretty good, they don't stick out from what i remember and they're nice and wide...i want something a bit bigger for better traction, i blow these 275s loose at the drop of the had and i'm sick of it. hopefully a more aggressive and wider tire will help that a bit.

 

I seem to have fit nitto 555r 305 45 18's in the rear
they look great and they don't stick out of the fenders

 

I'm going with the same setup as SKI,
18x10 in the rear with 305 and 18x10 up front with 295. They all sit flush and don't stick out.

The only problem i see is a 16" 295 is not going to be the same as the 18" 295- due to the fact the 16"s have large bulgy sidewalls but a smaller tread width.
