Default How much will rims slow me down?

I'm wanting to get some 18''-20'' rims but because my truck is already not that fast, I want to know how much they will hurt me. I'm not sure what hurts the acceleration other than the added weight (also the extra rotating mass, not sure if that adds to it too), but if I kept the same 29'' tall tires and run 18'' or 20'' rims it should'nt be that bad right? The tires I'm running right now are 255/70/16 which is weird because I thought the stock wheels were 17s and when I measure them I get 17 inches.

it depends on what rims you get, cast wheels will slow you down, it will be noticable but if you get some forged lightweight rims weight should come out about the same and you shouldnt notice a difference.

i think it would be hard to get a 16 inch tire on a 17inch rim but thats just me

the face of the wheel is always 1 inch taller than the actual size. what they measure is the actual rim where the bead is.

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure, thanks. BTW, how much do the stock 17s weigh?

It's all about weight. If you are not concerned with busting records I wouldn't even worry about going to 18's. Larger wheels may effect final drive ratios and put excess stress on your trans and brakes, again, I wouldn't worry too much about 18"

18s wont hurt you too bad, 20s will. I just went back to 18s and couldn't be happier. Pay attention to the tire weight as well when buying new ones. I went with some centerlines for rims for the lighter weight.
