If you were doing the avalanche, would you do anything different like cover the coils/alternator?

 

I've done the avalanche a few times and haven't, but I'm also consciously aware not to spray directly into the alternator. A light spray is fine, but if you start blasting with heavy streams of water you can cause problems.
