Default hood alignment

anybody know why a cowl hood would have huge gaps in between where the fender & hood are supposed to meet? were there different strength hinges in different trucks 99-06? i wouldn't think so but hey you never know...

common prob. with aftermarket hoods on gmc especially. more than likely youll have to take a 2x4 and a BFH to the hinge or use a come-along to draw the fenders in a little. if your local chevy/gmc dealer has a body shop stop by there theyll have plenty of experience w/ this prob. and have it fixxed in a few min. if not then any body man should be able to take care of it. ive done quite a few myself i wouldnt pay more than 50-60 bucks for the hood alignment.

its not that the hinges are to strong its that the hood isnt made to fit properly. im guessing that the gap is at least three times as wide as it should be at the rear of the of the hood in the curve at the fender. with the hood closed and the cowl cover off you should be able to look at the bolt that holds the two pieces of the hinge together. place a 2x4 there and smack the hell out of it to slightly bend the hinge bringing the hood down with it. good luck

Yeah I had this problem and I used the 2x4 method and it worked pretty good all you need to do is bend the hood hinges down
