Default Home made intakes...?

Wasn't quite sure where to post this...

I've noticed several trucks with home made intakes. A few questions for those of you that have one... how much did it cost, what materials did you use and any noticeable difference in performance? Pics would be great as well. Thanks.

here's mine, I just put a pic of it up actually...

I went through a website that makes just intake hoses and elbows and ordered what I needed, one 90* and I got one where the sensor goes, the pipe is... I think it's aluminum that I painted. Simple and it works really well. Just measure what size hoses you need and how long you need them.

Is it just me or does this intake look like hooker boots laced up? Kind of does it for me.
