Default Hmph. Got Rear-Ended.

I was with my girlfriend going through town... just moseying along with all the normal traffic. People were speeding up and slowing down and whatnot, just normal every day stuff. Traffic slowed down quite a bit from about 35mph-ish, but it wasn't anything worth an elevated heartbeat or a quick jab of the brakes even. I start slowing down then next thing you know, *BAAAMM*. As quick as it happened my truck was in park while screeching to a stop with my door already wide open... From looking back on it one would assume I was kinda pissed because I came at the guys car angrily enough to make him back the hell up and almost hit the guy behind him lol. It's a good thing he did back up because that gave me a few seconds to realize where I was at and notice all the people around... I very well could have gotten arrested, I wasn't even thinking at first I was just going to go for him I was so pissed.

Well, he backed up and started driving around my truck!?! He was around the other side of where I was standing so he could have taken off and all I could have done was chase him down, but an owner of a local *store* came out with a freakin' knife and screamed at the guy telling him to pull the f**k over lol, it was awesome

Anyway, it's rear bed/rollpan/tailgate damage, a couple people I talked to put the damages in the theoretical 5-6 thousand range because it's probably gonna need a new bedside from where the damage is being right near and on a body line and all...

I'll shut up, here's pics --- * looks worse in person *

Bed corner damage

Tailgate damage

His '90 VW Golf with "700,000" miles -thats what he said

We both have geico and he was cited and faulted in the accident... now I just gotta wait and have someone give me a check for the damage... at least my tiny rock chips from down there will be gone now

that sucks man. I got rearended a few mounths back, at a stop sign of all places. I found out that day that if you tell the cops that something really bad is going to happen to the other guy, they show up real quick. It was all cool, his insurance payed for my roll pan instal and some other stuff that I was putting off.

Damn man that sucks, I feel your pain. I've been without mines for two weeks now due to damage. I hope it all gets sorted out and good luck with all of it!

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate the concern... really.

Me and her are both fine, she was a little shook up but I can honestly say that the hit wasn't that jarring... I mean, I get jolted around a whole lot worse when I run a dozer at work pushing rock. I can see how she'd get shook up some, but physically we're both actually fine, nothin a 12 pack night can't loosen up lol...

Worst thing about all this though is, I'm not really gonna benefit a whole lot damnit lol... I mean, I already had the rollpan, the joe gibbs wing on my tailgate is unscathed... there's nothing that got damaged that I could replace with something better lol... unless I can squeeze some color matched door handles and mirrors out of it, it's probably just going to be a straightforward fix and forget, and that's about it.

Then again, I've never been hit like this where my truck was fixable so I don't know how well I'll make out, especially considering it's an "in house" geico claim. I dunno, we'll see... if anything cool happens I'll post back up about it.

Thanks again guys.

from personal experience..atleast wait a solid week before signing anything...better to be safe then sorry..you might not feel the greatist in a few days..just better to be carefull is all.
