Default Harsh winter?

I am driving my 6 month old truck around this winter due to lack of money to find a beater. I also live in Wisconsin, and am wondering how bad is it to run a new truck through 1 winter? The reason I ask is because I don't want the salt to turn the undercarriage to rust. I am too fimilar with that in my '86. I think the way they do things now is different then the way they did them 20 years ago, but I see 3-4 year old trucks with a good coat of rust on everything now. I'm just wondering how bad it will be in a month once spring is here and I start doing some suspension work.
