Default Guys with painted plastics...

How much did you guys pay to have a shop to smooth and paint your mirrors, valences and other plastics parts?

I was just calling a few local shops to have my mirrors, tail gate bezel/handle and door handles smoothed and painted and I almost fell on the floor! For me to get that done, one shop said 600 if I brought them all the parts and another said 400...

I know that I can get painted door handles but I can get them in my color which is carbon black metallic. Im just looking to see what you guys have paid.

I got my chrome bumper painted colornatch mirror caps white, tailgate handle, tailgate lip, door handles for $250 that just bc I know the body shop guy.

They usually do charge about $400 its not that bad, bc they got to sand and prep make everything smooth.

Now I need to re-do my back bumper its chippin a little i should of gotten powdercoated.

I realize that there is a lot of work and they need to make it worth there time, but it seems like I just keep hearing stories like yours where they have a lot of items done for a fraction of the cost. Im not in a hurry to get these done so no big deal...

I just painted my tailgate handle and bezel and top of bumper for under a hundred myself.

Sanding was a bitch though
1 pint of urethane base - $30
Flexible Plastic Primer - $10
Reducer - $10
2 cans of urethane clear - $30

I took the texture off with a ortibal sander, then wet/dry to 400.
You do have a have a paint gun though. I put 3 coats of base on and I still have 1/2 a pint left. The clear I used had an injector to add hardener and after you did that, you had 24hrs to use it. Pretty cool for a spray can.

I forgot to mention. I left my gas door with my paint supplier so they could match the color perfectly. The color is dead-on.

Honestly I might just do some test runs with some of the parts off my 2000, Ill see how that goes and go from there. I forgot to mention that if I dropped off my truck to them and they had to remove the parts off the truck, I would cost me $800 bones

I spent $120 for all the paint and supplies I need, now I'll just prep and spray in my garage
