Default Guys I really need your help!!!

Hey guys I'm new here I got a 1988 GMC full size SLE. Itz a reg cab short box. I am changing over the grill and dash, and this is where I'm stuck:

1. The Grille:
I got all my new lights, and will get the wiring harness. Is this going to plug right in? Also, I heard there's a mounting thing at the bottom of the grille, and it is dirrerent from the '88 to the '94-'98. Is this so?

2. The biggy!!
I am changing my dash to a '96 one, and I am getting the top dash pad, the bottom dash pad, the gauge cluster, the fan controls, and the front bezel I guess you'd call it, maybe the faceplate? Anyways, where I'm stuck is that in my '88 I have the 'bar' gauges, with no tach. Do I need the new wiring harness from the '96 and plug that in and go, or do I need the whole new computer also. My truck isn't a vortec like the '96, so does that make a difference? I am just really confused on how this is all going to fit in, speaking of fitting in is it going to bolt right in? I just need to know for sure whether or not I need the computer and/or wiring harness, or if I can use my existing ones and wire up the tach myself. Thanks for any help!!

Richter

I'd suggest to ask this question on www.fullsizechevy.com/forum

There are far more guys there that have older model trucks and many of them that are customized. They could probably help you out more over there.

Not being rude, it's just that we don't really deal with any trucks older than 99's here.
