It took a lot of looking for the dealer to find my truck in late '00 out of dealer stock. That is the only reason my truck is two-tone because it was one of only two trucks in the southeast with the options I wanted.

Yea I got lucky an found my 04 SCSB 5.3 at a local lot an I bought it about a week after I saw it. All the other trucks had 4.8s an V6s, Its all these damn wussy gas saving people out there now, no one likes real HP anymore. BTW, any licenced GM dealers should be able to order the truck exactly how you want it just go inside an do the paper work an they will get one on the way, thats what my friend did. Goodluck

The only problem is I'm still paying on the T/A... so an 01/02 would be so much more cost effective, you know?

And I know exactly what you are saying, bigboy. My buddy at work wants to get a full size, but he's talking about MPG instead of HP/TQ. At least he realizes is sacreligous (and useless, these are trucks after all) to get a V6, so he'd go with the 4.8L.

It took me 3 month. looking for my baby. at times i thought f it ill just get a damn 4.8 since that was the only (big) engine i could find in a Regcab! its like v6 land where i live! and all the 5.3s i found were EC(barf!) or f up RC.Anyways its a bitch looking for it but in the end its worth it. trust me man youll find one!!!

oh yeah when you do find one dont wait to long to buy it b/c i did a few times and lost 3! no b/s!!!!

I get the impression 5.3 in a rcsb are rare in the 03-04 models.

It all depends on the person who does the ordering. Midway Chevy had 2 in the color that I was looking for. So I got to choose what options I wanted. As for used it is just hit or miss.

I don't care if it's a 4.8 or 5.3 in it since it will be comming out anywat. I just don't wanna have to do a V6 to V8 conversion. So I'll be shopping for one myself in a few months. I want a pewter one if I can find it. LOL!!!
