Default Finished My 2/4 Drop

I finished my 2/4 drop today. Actually it ends up being a 2/3 drop. I used the McGaughy's 2/4 kit but with the 4" rear drop, even after cutting 3 "steps" off the bump stops it was still sitting on the stops and rode like crap. So, I used the second hole on the shackles and it's much better. Rides like stock unless I hit a ,ajor dip then there's a brief hit.

It certainly isn't radical but it accomplishes what I set out to do. I would like to see if I can 1/2 to 1 inch out of the front by adjusting the torsion bars but I don't quite know how to do that yet and will need to do some more research.

Looks great! I wouldn't have gone any lower in the back tho. I thing you chose the right "hole" in the shackle for looks and ride.

Thanks guys. The front is sitting a little high in that shot. When I installed the new spindles I apparently skipped the step where I was supposed to
"unload" the torsion bars. It only dropped 1 1/2". It should be exactly 2".

I have an appointment tomorrow with my alignment/suspension shop and they will tune up the torsion suspension before they re-align it. It looks goofy from the front too because there is pretty significant camber goin' on but it will be tuned in by tomorrow.

I actually might bring the back end up another 1/2". After speaking with McGaughy this morning, using the second hole on the shackle only raised it 1/2". I need to use the second hole on both front and rear of the leaf to get the 3" rear drop. I really think my truck will be level with a 2" front drop and a 3" rear. We'll see.

But thanks for the compliments. I love my new truck even if it doesn't know how to pass a gas station

No

If you ask because I have a torsion bar front suspension, they apparantly are using them more and more in 1/2 ton trucks (non 4WD or HD) starting in late 03. You're not alone in asking though, even most of the suspension manufacturers think I'm making it up. McGaughy's knew right away.

That's weird. My '04 doesn't have them but I noticed the new 6.0 1/2 tons do have them.
