I hear ya. I usually dont haul anything that'll hang over the tailgate but I keep a large towel folded up under the seat for when I do. Used it just the other day for when I was hauling about 10 2x6x10's in the back, worked great.

Luckily I'll have my '85 up and running soon and wont need to haul anything ever again in the '01 except *** lol...
