Yeah I know that but the problem is that I dont think you can take the guts from the power mirrors out with out breaking everything and even if you could what I want to know is if the guts could be placed into the base model mirrors. Also does anyone know if the mirrors will come apart (without breaking) and can be put back together at the joint where the mirror swivels?? Also I have been seeing some of the 04 LS and SLE model trucks with power mirrors and just black caps on the mirrors. Anyone know why they changed them?? THANKS!!!

 

The mirror can be taken off, ill trade you my stock all flat back mirrors for your chrome ones.

 

I recently bought a set of Kool Vue mirrors from Rock Auto that had the chrome cap/insert. A local shop painted the black part of the mirror housing Victory Red for me at a cost of $85. With the Escalade handles, the painted front bumper cap and the Putco grill insert, they look killer!

Before I had them painted, I called Kool Vue to find out if I could take them apart for the sanding/painting and then reassemble them afterwards. The guy told me that I would be unable to reassemble them because the spring they use inside (for folding/unfolding I guess) cannot be installed without special equipment.
