Default Exhaust tip, on stock system

Ok, this is a really dumb question. . . but I have always had custom exhaust. I want to put a single outlet tip on my exhaust, but the rear section is stock. Can I cut the stock pipe right after the bend and clamp on the tip? Any tips on where/how/what brand?

Again, I know this is a really dumb question but I've never done it before and I know a lot of you have so help a brotha out before I get the sawzall out and start hacking away.

So your saying you have a tail pipe from a aftermarket system, that exits in the stock location?? Yah you can add a tip no prob. I would weld it on there as a clamp looks taky IMO

Well right now the system is stock, I just want to add the tip for looks. I hate that gaudy pipe coming out the side. I agree on welding, I have never clamped any of my stuff.

Hell I would save up for a nice exhaust system also, but in the mean time find a nice 3-3.5 tip preff in stainless, weld it to the pipe.. DO IT

You can get the GM one for about $100:

I haven't checked out the stock pipe in a while, but if you were to cut it right where it bends, do you think the cut will be too far under the truck for the tip to look half decent?

Have you considered this sort of tip? SLP part # 31094:

You can get them for about $80 before shipping. Corsa tips like this are sold on here a lot, too.

Well I plan on doing LTs and some sort of system, but for right now I actually like it quiet for some reason. I guess I'm getting old. haha I just want a little cleaner look than what GM has.

I have a few of those lying around, I was going to do something different though. Had those on my last 2 trucks.

No sure, I'll look at it and measure and everything before I decide to do it. I just was getting some opinions. Next time you are at the grocery store, snoop around somebody's chevy truck for me would ya. haha

Yes, that is what I have been wanting to do. I have been looking at the Corsas for quite awhile.
