Default droppin' a 2500...and other stuff

NOBODY makes any parts except an axle flip kit to drop this thing so........

how much of a drop in the rear will I see if I pull the overload leaf (bottom leaf)??, how much if I pull the overload AND the next leaf up??

the front isn't an issue because with the stock t-bars backed out most of the way I can just about stuff the front wheels and I don't want to go that far....just 2-3" front and back

does anyone know if the Hotchkis sway bars will work on the 14 bolt axle??....if it is just bracket problems I can fab brackets

TIA
Al

You should try pulling the lift blocks if you have them also. I found me a set of 2x4 U-bolts for my 4x4 so I can drop the assend 2".

Hotchkis stuff won't work but I know what will...

How wide are the HD springs like on your truck?

Mine looks silly with the assend up like that too...I did order a T-Bar Key set and never got them and canceled the order. So I am just going to drop the rear.

LOL...the suspense is bad eh? Hellwig came highly recommended to me via a Ford truck site (hope that's okay with you!) also Addco apparently makes bars too

springs are 2.5" wide.....can I maybe use 1/2 ton drop shackles or are the 1/2 ton springs only 2" wide??

the suspense was absolutly killing me

Ford is OK by me....as long as I'm not driving it

My springs are 2.5" wide too...and I drive a 1/2 ton. Maybe they are larger on the 2500HD/3500. But as luck will have it, you can prolly use the 1/2 drop parts.

If you get those sways post up how ya like them. I am pretty sure I am going to order a set for the ol' Blue Oval and prolly the Z. Won't happen until early next year tho'.

Hey... Ford is better than Mopar!

My dad had a 3500 1998 crew cab fleetside that we dropped in the back with shackles. Worked real well. Leveled it out and all. Shackles might be the answer.

well, it looks like the 1500 4" shackle and hanger drop from DJM will work on the back ($190), it seems the '99/'00 2500 non-HD has the same frame/suspension as the 1500 with the only difference being the number of leaves in the rear spring-pack and the 3/4 ton torsion bars in the front

by pulling the overload leaf in the back in combo with the hanger/shackle drop I should see about 5" rear and I can crank the torsion bars in the front down far enough to still give it a rake (I want it level front to rear though so I won't go THAT far down in the front)

with a 3/5 drop I will STILL have almost 4" of rear suspension travel and almost 3" in the front !!!....I never realized just how HIGH up this thing really sits !!
