Default driving 99-02 without main dash?

I want to get my main dash piece painted, and i heard its a bear to get out and in. I found one at a local junk yard for $100, and thats fine, but if I can use mine instead Id rather do that. I smooth all the pieces myself, then my painter sprays them for cheap.

Can I remove the main dash assembly and still drive the truck? gonna take several hrs to smooth it and then drop it off to get sprayed....

Well, pulled the dash bout a week ago, it's do-able and not that hard, but it sucks driving without it. No place to plug my iPhone in, no lever to move the steering wheel column around cause I forgot to put it back in, no vents, just big plastic tubes blowin cold air everywhere but on you....lol. It's takin me forever to smooth all this crap cause there is so much to do......
