Drag Truck Lowering Questions
#1
I have a 03 silverado rcsb on 20'' by 8.5''. Right now I have 2" lowering shackles in the back but want to lower my truck to a 2/4 drop. My truck doesn't get good traction off the line so I was wondering if putting 2" lowering leaf springs would help my truck squat and hook up better in the back so it would launch quicker? Would my truck ride smooth with the weaker leaf springs in the back? Should I also go with drop spindles or drop coils in the front? Would my truck hit frame with the set up?

Run hangers, and then cal-tracs, you don't really want your truck to squat, you want you leafs to push down when you launch to keep the tires firmly planted. You won't hit the frame, maybe over a big bump, but 4" is the max I would go without notching the frame.

Shocks is all preference, running spindles you don't need to change your shocks, and it retains your factory ride and geometry, depending what spindles you run. 16" McGaughy ones seem to hold for the best factory geometry, but you need to clearance some of the lower part of the spindle for complete turning and you move you LCA Balljoint, springs (since it's only 2") would be cheaper and do just fine, and bring you roll center down, so if it's only 2" you could get away cheaper with springs and shocks. Out back shocks do need to be replaced regardless, doestech (sp) ride pretty smooth, edlebrock has some progressive ones for 4" drop or you could spend some coin for qa1s for adjustable shocks.
