Yessir...what you need to do is bypass the sensor with something that is the same resistance as the sensor when it is light out. I did mine right at the BCM and used an LED, (which I am going to replace with a 1.5Kohm resistor as the resistance of the led varies with temperature and sometimes the lights come on when it's colder out lol...). You can either jump the resistor across the 2 wires by tapping into them, or cut the wires and bypass the sensor all together. (my truck is a 99 so the wiring is different from an 03 and up).

You can't just cut a wire(s) as that will turn the lights on all of the time...at least that's the way mine worked...I cut a wire and the lights came on. That's why you need to complete the circuit and have the correct resistance in it.

Try searching the GM General section and also the Stereo and Electronics section for "auto headlights" and similar words...there have been numerous threads about this...I've posted a schematic from a 1999 service manual a few times...I don't have it handy but I know that it's floating around in one of those threads.

so if i just cut both wires and connect them with the resister, then that will work?

That's the ticket...you'll no longer have the auto feature, it will be full manual.

If you want to have auto and be able to disable it, you could leave the sensor wired in, jump a resistor across the 2 wires, and put a switch between the resistor and one of the wires. The switch can complete and disable the resistor/full manual feature.

i took the radio out and can not see the wires to the sensor. the ducting for the vent is in the way as well as the piece that holds the radio and climate controls. i took out the four screws to this piece but it still doens't come out.

The easiest way would be to do it right at the BCM, you just need to find out which wires they are. You could always go to a book store and check a Haynes or Chilton manual and check out the schematic. I've posted a 99 schematic a few times, but I believe that 03 and up have a different electrical system. (the wires were white and grey IIRC). Maybe someone here has a schematic that they could post up.

i got it working. looked at a wiring diagram.

for 03+ cars on the BCM you are going to use two plugs. C3 and C4. C4 is blue and on the left. C3 is brown and in the middle. the right one is blue and that is C2 which is where you do the 4-high mod at.

on C4 the black wire is in B7. On C3 the white wire is on A4. i just put a wire tap on both wires and put a blade terminal on both ends of the resister. then just plug the resister into the two taps. remember to plug all the Cx plugs back in.
