plenty of other people have no bad experiences with it. it does sound like a bad move but its shown to be fine.

Thats the way the high end brakes are coming. Its a coating, but looks nice in drilled slotted rotors. Look at USAbodygaurds 6 pistons, IIRC thats how they were. Probably not a true paint, but I would bet it would be fine

looks very clean I like.

Ive trying to do the same on my truck clean up the paint/wheels wheels in the rear and make everything look clean. Just the weather been very shitty

Yeh, it's been done MANY times. First time I seen it was on a high end corvette build. Just burns the paint off the contact area and leaves everything else nice and black, or whatever color you so choose. You are right though, the high end brakes are not painted, it is a coating.

IIRC its a zinc coating to just keep them from rusting, which comes off easily, like with a fingernail. Painting the whole rotor with high temp brake paint is just asking for the pads to be ruined/not broken in properly imo. geez how hard is it to tape them off anyway..

That's what I do, tape and spray. Seen the whole things done often, people that did it say everything still worked properly, but I just never really felt comfortable messing up a set of rotors or pads because of my own laziness.
